We're at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and, when it comes to the great outdoors, we really are right in the heart of it all.
We're in stunning walking country. Tackle the hills and moors, or just meander along the river and watch the world drift by. We're situated right on the route of the Coast To Coast Walk and the Centre makes an ideal stopover for tired feet and empty tummies.

Trail runners will discover an amazing network of paths and tracks, from the fairly flat to the not-flippin-flat-at-all. Events on our doorstep include the DalesRunner 20, the Fremington Frenzy and the classic fell run/challenge walk Swaledale Marathon. New for 2025, the Centre is now a support station on the Dales Traverse ultra event.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is designated an International Dark Skies Reserve in recognition of the exceptional and distinguished quality of its starry night sky. Visit Swaledale and the exceptional views don't end when the light fades in fact a whole new fascinating view lights up the sky.
